About Us

The journey of Hounds of India takes you through the ups and downs of our life. We had our fair share of challenges and obstacles, to reach this success.

First Dog in our Life

In 1984, our parents introduced our brother Princy German Shepard puppy. He was our constant companion and dearest friend. We spent most of our time together at home.

We enjoyed bathing and grooming. Splashing while shampooing is the funniest memory of childhood.

One day when returning home, he jumped out excitedly from the 1st floor. Circled us twice and ran away. It took 3 hours to catch him.

Lived with us for 12 years.

Second and Third Dogs

In 1990, while touring Kerala, bought a pair of Doberman. Named them Blacky and Browne in an instant.

On returning home, recognized both of them as Female.

OMG, how much will they eat! Very active and more ferocious than their elder brother.

After a few months, gave one of them to our Friend. Blacky was there to console us when Princy left us forever.

Adopting and Fostering Dogs

In 2006, adopted an adult Lab Chitti from our Friend.

Street dogs will come near our gate while giving food to Chitti.

Started feeding street dogs, whenever we could.

Became known as the Dog person in our circle, and started getting requests to adopt their adult Pet dogs for various reasons.

Moving to Farm

Breeding was not in mind but didn’t have enough space for dogs at home.

Moved the dogs to our Mango and Coconut Farm. The Farm was fenced and had a room for protection from Sun and Rain.

Many Labradors, our first Rajapalayam Veera, Golden retriever, Great Dane, and Pomeranians.

Foreign to Native Breeds

Losing the dearest Labrador Happy at the young age of 2 years was the turning point in our journey.

Realized that foreign breeds are not naturally adaptable to our climate.

Wanted to educate the mass to have Indian pets, as they are healthy, less maintenance, and naturally adaptable.

Gave the adopted Foreign breed dogs for adoption.

Started Breeding

The current chapter begins.

Ammu was our first Rajapalayam Female dog, bought with the intention to breed.

Started buying good quality puppies, semi-adult, and adult dogs. Quality is the focus.

We were growing slowly and steadily, as this was not our main business.

Faced many problems, solved them, and became known in our circle.

Brand Hounds of India

kids wanted a pet at home.

We decided to take a puppy from our next litter.

Kids have seen many youtube channels with Foreign breed dogs. They wanted to promote our Indian breeds like that.

Our puppy was born, and all of us were so excited.

Started taking photos and videos from Day 1.

Need to post them on Facebook and Youtube, but where.

We also need a brand name for our business, we were known only by our name so far.

As Rajapalayam, Kanni, Caravan, Mudhol, Rampur, and Chippiparai are native Indian Hounds (hunting dogs), decided on the name Hounds of India.

KCI Champion Dogs

We have the most winning Rajapalayam of 2019 and 2020, which we lovingly call The King.

The 6 CC Champion Female Rajapalayam, we lovingly call The Queen.

The 4 CC Champion Male Rajapalayam, we lovingly call The Prince.

2010 and 2013 KCI Champion Male Rajapalayam, whom we lovingly call The Legend.

Hounds of India Bloodline

A minimum of 3 generations of own breeding need to be there to call Bloodline.

i.e. Puppy parents, their parents, and their parents should be from the same breeder.

We breed by carefully selecting the best dogs from different gene pools.

Breeding requires a lot of hard work, knowledge, experience, expertise, time, and money.

To maintain the difference in the gene pool, even today we buy good quality dogs from outside.

We focus on varying gene pools for healthy future generations, and for the betterment of the breed.

When we give a puppy, we recommend to call us for breeding, to maintain a high standard.

Digital World

The digital world bought us new opportunities and challenges.

As usual, solved one at a time and learn as we grow.

You supported us, that is our most important achievement.

The rest is history…
